We offer by appointment cooking classes in Portland, Oregon where you and a guest will cook a three course meal with the guidance of a chef! Intro Level Class

Samosas & Vindaloo

NEW Class!

This menu is a bit of an enigma. While these dishes are synonymous with Indian culture, most didn’t originate in India.

Originally, Vindaloo was a Portugese dish that was popularized in India in the 16th century; specifically the Goa region. It’s a Curry dish that boasts spicy and aromatic flavors and is typically made with beef.

Samosas are fried and filled with spiced potato and were brought to Indian from the Middle East in the 13th & 14th century.

I’ve mentioned SPICE quite a bit and that is why the Mango Lassi is the perfect companion. It’s milk base and sweet mango flavor help to neutralize some of that spiciness. And, it’s just really darn good.

Curry is VERY versatile and every country has their own interpretation of this sometimes spicy sauce. We have worked very hard to present what we believe to be an authentic Thai Green Curry. During this class you will get one-on-one instruction from our talented and passionate chef while learning some new skills in the kitchen! This class is informative, fun and memorable!

Ode to Lokanta PDX

Lokanta was an incredibly delicious and authentic restaurant in SE Portland that closed a few years ago. Chef Umut was born and raised in Turkey and thrived on Meyhane culture. A Meyhane is a traditional Turkish restaurant or tavern where people gather for several hours, talking, drinking Raki and eating and sharing small dishes. Chef Umut’s food was fresh and showed tremendous depth of flavor. It is my pleasure to share some of the dishes I came to know and love while working at Lokanta.
